Introduction

A competent Control Environmental Officer is required to supervise water quality monitoring programs and manage related data analysis, according to the Western Cape government’s Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning. An opportunity to contribute to integrated pollution management programs and regulatory interventions in Cape Town’s CBD exists with this post for a skilled applicant

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Honours NQF 8 in Physical, Natural Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Management and a Minimum of at least 6 years of related environmental management experience, including water quality management and a Valid Code B or higher driving license.

Recommendations

  • Working knowledge and the experience of environmental legislation, policies, and regulations and Experience in environmental impact management, pollution, and chemical management.
  • Familiarity with water quality management, including monitoring and data analysis, and research and/or report writing experience

Key Performance Areas

  • Implementing and managing integrated water quality monitoring programs, analyzing data, and giving technical insights to inform pollution management initiatives and Providing specialist advice on environmental technical reports and pollution management to stakeholders.
  • Developing citizen science initiatives and water stewardship networks and Managing financial and human resources, involving project and contract management, and contributing to communication and evaluation systems for pollution management

Competencies

  • Understanding of environmental management principles, compliance monitoring, and enforcement as well as Proficiency in interpreting and analyzing water quality data and pollution information.
  • Skills in MS Office Package, communication, research, report writing, GIS, project management, and human resource management and the ability to analyze scientific and technical reports, as well as policy and legislation.
