Position: Registered Nurse | (Theatre Qualified)

Introduction

A job position exists for a Registered Nurse (TheatreQualified, based at Life The Glynnwood Hospital reporting to Marilyn De MeyerUnit Manager.

The successful applicants will be responsible for helping the surgical team to perform all surgical procedures on patients successfully and to make sure that the patient receives optimal care in accordance with company and hospital strategic objectives.

Critical Outputs

Ensure effective financial management by:

  • Making sure there’s accurate charging by managing theatre clocking time and consignment stock, equipment and prosthesis is charged according to policy
  • Organizing and manmaging stock by participating in regular stock taking and controlling of the consignment stock in accordance with the hospital’s (local) policy

Affecting the functioning of theatre equipment and instrumentation by:

  • Making sure theres a correct use of theatre equipment and instrumentation by educating and supervising staff on the correct utilisation of the equipment.

Giving Quality patient care by

  • Obtaining the correct information pre-operatively and visiting the patient post-operatively, making sure that the patient is comfortable and helping the doctor during the surgical procedure

Ensuring effective people management by

  • Giving theater-specific training and assessing the competence of staff and Helping the Unit manager correctly monitor the normal and overtime hours
  • Make sure the theater team works according to the scope of practice and Give feedback to the Unit Manager in order to assess optimal performance.

Effective SHEQ management by

  • Ensuring the use of personal protective clothing and complying with ISO requirements and making sure the disposal of medical waste in order to effectively control infection 

Effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders

  • Attend review and consultative form meetings to maintain healthy relationships with internal stakeholders and Maintain a good and healthy relationship with external stakeholders by reporting and escalating unresolved problems to the Unit Manager

The Minimum Requirements

  • General Nursing Degree/Diploma and Qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing and Must be multi-skilled in all disciplines but stipulate your specialty e.g. Hepatic-pancreatic surgery, Orthopaedic, Vascular, General surgery
  • Must at least have 2 years experience in Hepatic-pancreatic, Registration with SANC and Releated experience and technical skill to meet the critical outputs
  • Knowledge of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage and Computer proficiency would be an advantage.
