The Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) in Civil Engineering or related engineering qualification and six (6) years of post-qualification technical engineering experience and compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as an engineering technologist.
  • Valid, unexpired driver’s license and knowledge of project management, technical design, and analysis, as well as experience in computer-aided engineering applications and familiarity with legal compliance and technical report writing.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) and strong conflict management and negotiation skills; proficiency in problem-solving, decision-making, teamwork, and creativity; and financial and people management skills.

key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage technical services and support in collaboration with engineers, technologists, and associates, and make sure theres safety promotion by complying with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess existing technical manuals, standard drawings, and procedures to integrate new technology and make sure the quality of technical designs and specifications, authorizing or recommending approval.
  • Oversee administrative, human resources, and related functions and give inputs into the budgeting process, operational plan, and procurement plan.
  • Compile and submit reports as required and manage risk and disaster management matters.
  • Engage in continuous professional development for research and development of new technologies and procedures and liaise with related bodies and councils on engineering-related matters.
  • Travel considerably and work away from the office for extended periods and give mentorship and supervision to personnel and Conduct research and literature studies to improve expertise in technical engineering technology.
